So it has been forever since my last post - 5 months to be exact. Our lives have been CRAZY since Chris graduated!! We sold our house, moved in with the Carters, decided to build another house, Chris started graduate school, Grace turned 4, Grace started school at Brazos Christian, we finished our new house, we moved AGAIN, Chris turned 36 and I went to a week long conference in South Padre. So blogging has been on the back burner although I pledge to one day catch up and become a better blogger!! Since most of our stuff is still in boxes - including our computer- I don't have any pictures to post but I wanted to catch everyone back up so I decided to to a "5 things" post - I used to do these all the time when Grace was a baby but haven't done one in years so here we go....
5 Things You May Not Know About Me...
1. I LOVE my job and being a working mom - I feel my job is my ministry or calling in life and I don't think I had to give that up when Grace was born - now- being a working mom has not always been easy and there are days I feel that Grace deserves more but for the most part I feel my working makes me a better mommy and it works for us!! And it helps that we have family surrounding us so Grace is being cared for by my mom and Chris' mom - it takes a village!!!
2. We were not planning on naming Grace, Grace. Her name came from a very tough night in the ER when we were told I was possibly miscarrying - this at 18 weeks pregnant and we had already miscarried her twin at 10 weeks. I laid in that cold, sterile room on my left side for what felt like days waiting for the ultra sound tech to get there (it was 3am) and all I could do was sing snippets of Amazing Grace - I struggled to even pray during those hours. So when the ultrasound tech finally arrived and we were able to take a look at our baby, his first statement to us was everything looked great with the placenta and the baby and then the next thing he asked us was if we wanted to know the sex - Chris and I looked at each other, still pretty out of it and Chris answered "yes" The tech told us the baby was a girl - HUGE shock but when we got back to the house the next day I told Chris I wanted to name the baby Grace and he agreed. A few months later we were in Sunday School and someone defined the word Grace as something God gives us that we don't deserve - and it hit me like a ton of bricks...Grace was our GIFT from God - something he gave us that we don't deserve!! She is without a doubt God's living, breathing miracle and she is our gift from Him!! (And in case you were curious, her name was going to be Allyson Grace or Callie Grace)
3. Keeping in line with #2 - Grace was also conceived in a petri-dish :) Yep, she is an invitro baby. I have never blogged about that before - not because I am shy about it, actually we are VERY open about our fertility struggles but I guess I have just never been ready to put it into writing before...we tried to get pregnant for about 6 years (on and off since Chris was actually in Iraq for about 14 months of that time) and never could get pregnant - or for that matter find anything wrong with either of us as to why we were not getting pregnant. So on October 10, 2007 we went to Houston and met with a fertility doctor. On November 1, 2007, I started fertility shots and on December 3, 2007, we "got pregnant" - and the story could go on for PAGES but that is where I will stop today.
4. If I was most like one "Friends" character it would have to be Monica - yep, I am the crazy, neurotic woman - Chris and I have always watched old "Friends" episodes every night as we fall asleep - and he constantly tells me I am just like Monica!! I take it all as a compliment :) Truth is I do have some neurotic tendencies and I am pretty high maintenance but the coolest thing about my hubby is that is why he loves me...
5. It really hurts my feelings if someone tells me I am loud. I am loud and I realize this fact but it still really bothers me when people feel the need to point it out or shush me. It is just a really sensitive thing for me. I don't do it on purpose and I can't really help it so why must people point it out? The cool thing here is that Chris and I have been married for 10 1/2 years and he has NEVER, EVER told me to be quiet or told me I am being too loud - doesn't even notice my loud voice!!! Now that is true love - God chose the perfect mate for me!!!
So pretty random 5 things but trying to keep it interesting until I can get some pictures up on the blog - stay tuned for new house pics - that is if we EVER get the boxes unpacked!!!
