Surgery on Tuesday

Normally my posts are all about Gracie but this one centers around her Daddy - he will be having emergency hernia surgery tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. Evidently this is a pretty routine surgery but for those of you who know me well - anything medical is a REALLY big deal so please just keep him in your prayers tomorrow. The funny part about this injury is Gracie is the reason he even noticed it - he was getting her out of the car on Saturday and she kicked him in the stomach and it nearly took his breath away it hurt so bad - not normal for a 17 pound little one to hurt that bad so we took a look around his belly button & there was a HUGE lump there...well, of course I FREAKED out and Chris in his ever so calm manner started looking it up on the Internet - something I would NEVER do!!! Well, the Internet diagnosed it as a hernia or stomach ulcer so he went to the doctor this morning and it is a hernia that "needs to be removed as soon as possible." The doctor said the surgery is no big deal but the recovery can be a little dicey - no lifting of anything over 20 lbs for 6 weeks - good thing Gracie is so small - God really knows what he is doing doesn't he!!! Anyway, it will be tough for Chris to do his job without any lifting but I think he is in enough pain right now that he will heed the doctor's advice and do what they say - another funny thing about the whole ordeal - Gracie has an umbilical hernia too only they won't do surgery on hers until she is 2 years old - aren't they just two of a kind!!!! So, tomorrow just keep Christopher in your prayers and also me - to stay calm and be able to take care of my 275lb husband on bed rest for the next week - oh, how the tides have turned :)
