Texas Reds

Gracie's Daddy, Papaw & Uncle Clif spent last Saturday participating in our town's Texas Reds Festival. It is a steak & wine festival and one of the highlights is the steak cookoff. This is the 3rd year they have particiapted - Grace & I missed last year as it was during my bedrest days. Anyway, we are pleased to announce they placed 9th this year which is actually a pretty big deal since most of the teams come from all over the South & most do this for a living!!! We are pretty proud of our Daddy as he was really the one that cooked the steaks!!!! Our team is the Hometown Gang - my dad, Chris & my Dad's friend who is also on the team are hometown born & raised - well, some of them are the born part.
The "men" tasting one of the practice steaks - they make practice steaks all day & pass out samples to all the passersby along with other fun fingerfoods such as venison sausage - the food is unbelievable and FREE!!!

This year they had a dancehall & seating area with chairs & hay bales as part of the Hometown Gang's booth - you also get judged on your booth so people go all out. Gracie LOVED the hay and spent most of her time eating it and pulling it apart.

In the background you can see the booth - it was so cool!!! I am so proud of the team for such a cool booth and atmosphere - they even had a street dance in front of our booth at one point in the day - amazing what wine, steak & 100 degrees will make people do -

Gracie & her Aunt Kristen - Grace was a real trooper -she lasted the whole day with a nap break of 2 1/2 hours!!!!
